Counseling, consulting, and guidance.

Counseling with a gifted lens

What if you could get help with life’s challenges— especially those common among the gifted such as anxiety, ADHD, asynchronous development, social skills, overexcitabilities, and more— from an expert who has actually been through the same thing as you?

Noel Jett is a Licensed Professional Counselor, with a Doctorate of Philosophy in Gifted and Talented Education. An alumna of the Davidson Young Scholars and a published author, she has not only conducted research on early college, homeschooling, and radical acceleration— she’s lived it. Equipped with data, experience, and training, Dr. Jett is excited and honored to work with gifted families as they navigate the trials and complexities of high potential.

Whether your needs are social, emotional, or educational, you’ve come to the right place.

Consulting for parents and families

Every family has unique needs— and giftedness often adds new complications, that many of us feel unequipped to handle. Whether you’re looking for support in choosing the best educational path for your family, or just need help navigating the particular stresses of parenting a gifted child, we are proud to offer consulting backed by experience you can trust: raising a gifted kid of her own.

Nancy Shastid has supported hundreds of families in their gifted journey through her work as a board member with the Texas Parents of the Profoundly Gifted— and collaborated with organizations like the National Association for Gifted Children, the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented, the World Conference for Gifted and Talented Children, and the Davidson Institute for Talent Development. Despite being a published author and popular speaker, the accomplishment she’s most proud of is being a homeschooling mom to her gifted daughter.

Nancy knows better than anyone what it’s like to raise a gifted kid, and how hard it can be to find the right options for them— let alone managing some of their less common concerns.

Nancy is ready to talk to you about finding the right path for your gifted kiddo; schedule a call to find out more!

Have you heard any of these before?

“You’re so smart, everything should be easy for you.” “Every child is gifted.”

“Raising a smart kid should be simple!” “What do you have to be depressed about?”

“Why are you struggling in school, I thought you were ‘gifted’?” “Smart people don’t need therapy.”

“Kids with ADHD aren’t gifted.” or “Gifted kids don’t have ADHD.”

“Giftedness is a myth.” “Stop talking about your gifted kid, you’re just bragging.”

Misconceptions about giftedness abound; it can be hard to find someone to talk to without having to field a litany of invasive and ignorant questions— or being accused of ‘bragging’ about your intelligence. In a case of unfortunate irony, this sense of alienation can exacerbate these very issues and make it feel like you’re on your own.

If you’re looking for an ally in this unique path, those of us at Jett Gifted Services are happy to help!
